The general director of Public Relations between Services (ISPR), General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that only the State has the authority to declare jihad and that no individual or group can claim this right, the military media wing reported Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR, Lieutenant General Chaudhry held a special Karachi meeting with representatives of several religious and social communities, participating in discussions focused on national unity and harmony.
He stressed that ethnic or linguistic hatred is a form of ignorance. “All the citizens of Pakistan, regardless of their faith, are the same under the Constitution and enjoy complete rights. The national unity is only maintained through equality and harmony, if we remain united, no force can defeat us,” he said.
When addressing the security challenges of the country, he said, “India is supporting terrorism within Pakistan. Pakistan’s army is responding with the modern war strategy and full preparation.”
The participants welcomed the army spokesman, expressed strong solidarity with the Pakistan army and appreciated the DG ISPR initiative, describing the dialogue as valuable. They also expressed the desire that such interreligious discussions and intercommune continue regularly, the statement concluded.
