- Frontier is an infrastructure layer that connects enterprise data and systems with agent AI
- Four of the world’s largest consulting firms have been hired to help companies.
- They will help in AI, cloud and infrastructure strategies
OpenAI has confirmed major partnerships with four of the world’s largest consulting firms – Accenture, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Capgemini and McKinsey & Company – as part of its continued rollout of agent AI systems.
The project, called Frontier Alliance, will help them create, deploy and manage AI agents by connecting their systems and data.
In its official announcement, OpenAI explained that model intelligence is not the limiting factor in how companies maximize AI, but rather how they deploy and integrate agents.

Where consulting firms fit in is that they will use OpenAI’s advanced implementation engineering team to drive enterprise AI adoption.
Speaking about each of the four partners, OpenAI explained that McKinsey and BCG can help leaders define AI strategies and integrate AI into daily workflows, while Accenture and Capgemini will help on the infrastructure and cloud implementation side.
“AI alone does not drive transformation,” wrote BCG CEO Christoph Schweizer. “It must be linked to strategy, integrated into redesigned processes and adopted at scale with incentives and culture aligned to achieve sustained results.”
Presented as an infrastructure layer to link data, tools and business processes, and designed for AI management, OpenAI’s Frontier page shows the evaluation and optimization, agent execution and business context covered by Frontier, with agents and interfaces such as Atlas and ChatGPT running on top.
The four are now working to get Frontier into the hands of some early adopters. It’s available to a “limited set of customers,” but wider availability is expected in the coming months.
