- Google Cloud will provide OpenAI infrastructure in several countries
- Google also has an agreement in the cloud with anthropic Openai rival
- Then there are the efforts of Google inmates
Operai has now added the Google Cloud platform as a cloud supplier for Chatgpt and its API in several countries, according to CNBC information.
This occurs when the giant of AI diversifies its infrastructure to meet the growing demand: the company also uses Microsoft, as well as Oracle and Coreweave.
Once the exclusive provider of the company’s cloud, Microsoft has lost exclusivity as the relationship between the two companies evolved. Today, Redmond still has the first right of rejection, but it is no longer the only supplier.
Operai adds Google to your cloud suppliers list
The use of Openai from Google Cloud Platform is a significant victory for the company, whose cloud business is much smaller than AWS and Microsoft Azure even though it is the third largest supplier of the largest cloud worldwide. Its infrastructure will be used in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Netherlands and Norway.
On the other side of the agreement, Openai is not the only client of Google. The technology giant already has an association with Anthrope: a rival company founded by former Operai executives.
The OpenAi CEO, Sam Altman, has previously cited a GPU shortage as motivation not only to increase, but to expand the range of cloud services.
According PakGazetteThe agreement with Google could have been on the cards for several months, but it was not until the exclusive associations with Microsoft ended that the discussions could progress.
For OpenAI, supplier diversification reduces the blockade of a single supplier, which finally gives the company more leverage to negotiate prices and access the latest chips.
However, the agreement raises questions about how Google and its rivals will assign resources, each offering its own alternative to Chatgpt. Looking towards the future, Operai is on the way to finishing accelerator designs soon, which could further reduce their third parties dependence.
