- Operai has updated the chatgpt project function to remember past chats, tone and file preferences
- The projects now offer deep research, voice mode, mobile file loads and more
- Operai wants projects to work more as smart work spaces than in unique chats
Chatgpt project function has been a useful way to organize conversations with Chatbot AI since he debuted, but has had its limitations. An important set of updates launched by OpenAI this week has transformed projects of a simple file folder into a highly focused version of Chatgpt as a whole.
Projects are debated as a way of organizing chats and related files in a digital shoe box. But now, that organization means that Chatgpt will remember that these chats and files are related. Then, if a chat begins within a project, the AI will remember the things of other chats in that project, referring to its past messages within the same work space.
If a new project begins, you can load your notes, chat on the topic with Chatgpt, request online comparisons and then return three days later to continue the conversation without replacing everything or have the quote unrelated discussions. Chatgpt will not only remember the issues either. You will remember your format preferences, as well as your tone of voice.
And those can be much more complex conversations now that the projects include the deep research tool, which allows you to execute tasks of several steps in ChatgPT, combining their files and instructions with live information from the web.
Now you can also use Chatgpt’s voice mode in projects. Touch the microphone within any project and start talking about the files inside or anything else, and you will see that it appears. And if you are using the mobile application, you can now load files directly and change between GPT-4O or other models in the march.
Other updates are more minor but still significant. For example, if you have a project that you do not want to share in its entirety, but it includes a conversation in Chatgpt in particular that you want to send to someone, you can do it now. And if a discussion with Chatgpt suddenly inspires you to start a project, you can now drag it directly to a project folder or convert it instantly from the sidebar.
Not everyone can use the functions of updated projects so far. You have to be a chatgpt plus or a professional subscriber for now. However, according to many other chatgpt characteristics that were once exclusive to subscribers, I would not be surprised if they are accessible to free users at some point in the future.
AI Power of the Project
So impressive that Chatgpt projects could be now, I would not expect to see offices that throw their notions or Trello programs in the short term. They still lack some of the common elements of these tools, such as calendars. But, for personal or simply smaller efforts, it is a good improvement of the AI assistant, one that could at least help OpenAi compete with the infusions of AI that Google has been adding to its ecosystem.
Operai has been clear that they not only want to be a chatbot supplier. They want to be your option for life and work. These updates feel like the first sketches of something more ambitious. Operai could one day launch Chatgpt as an alternative to alternate among ten applications. Instead, one day Chatgpt could open and say: “We collect where we leave it in the next presentation of the work.”
A small experimentation on my part discovered that improved projects seemed more efficient almost immediately, but not without some problems. A large collection of conversations that I have organized to try other features was too anxious to deactivate initial interactions instead of extracting more recent discussions about Chatgpt capabilities. And although projects can now refer to past chats, real search and navigation between those chats are not yet perfect. There is still no Boolean logic to isolate certain phrases, so it is possible that you should make a displacement to find what you are looking for.
Even so, even with the inevitable friction, I can see the value of making the projects a source of self -organized data, instead of simply a file folder for the documents, as it has been. Either compiling research, data analysis or drawing the perfect party, could make chatgpt use much less chaotic.
