OpenAI and the United Kingdom government have signed a memorandum of understanding as part of a plan to “maintain an eco of the United Kingdom leader in the world based on democratic values.”
The agreement will see Openai explore investments in the the United Kingdom’s AI infrastructure, including data centers and the so -called AI growth areas, which could level the pitch throughout the United Kingdom with sites in Scotland and Wales.
Through the Memorandum of Understanding, the United Kingdom Government hopes to deploy in justice, defense, education and public services to improve efficiency.
The United Kingdom Government doubles into AI
OpenAI’s technology already forms the basis of a series of government tools in the United Kingdom, including improved Humphrey by chatgpt for civil service workers and the improved GPT 4o consultation for policy formulation.
The Secretary of Technology of the United Kingdom, Peter Kyle, welcomed the collaboration with the world leader’s company: “AI will be essential to boost the change we need to see throughout the country, either to fix the NHS, break barriers to opportunities or boost economic growth.”
“Great Britain has a strong legacy of scientific leadership and his government was one of the first to recognize the potential of AI through its AI opportunities action plan,” added the CEO of Openai, Sam Altman.
The United Kingdom has already pledged to invest “up to £ 500 million” to support the sovereign, and has broader plans described in its AI AI Opportunities Action Plan that establishes that the United Kingdom is the third largest market worldwide in the world behind the United States and China.
