LAHORE:
Now that the PIA has resumed its flights to the European Union (EU), the management of the national flag carrier with liquidity problems has great hopes that the authorities of the United Kingdom (United Kingdom) also grant permission to resume its operation of Flight to the United Kingdom after a period of more than four years.
The sources revealed that the British Security Committee is scheduled to review the request for resumption of PIA flights at its meeting scheduled for March 12.
The British Civil Aviation Authority and the Transport Department (DFT) team will present the recent PIA Audit Report and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority at the meeting. If the British Security Committee approves, the direct flights of PIA to the United Kingdom will also be restored.
Pia’s management trusts the resumption of flights to the United Kingdom.
The airline has already prepared a plan to immediately begin operations to London, Manchester and Birmingham as soon as approval is granted. A two -member PIA team recently returned to Pakistan after evaluating preparations for flight operations in the United Kingdom, added Fuentes.
The Aviation authorities of the EU and the United Kingdom imposed a temporary prohibition of PIA in June 2020 after the Minister of Aviation during the PTI rule revealed in the Parliament that several pilots in Pakistan had false licenses.
The PIA flight operation resumed on January 11.
