Order of Arrest on bail issued for the opposition leader Omar Ayub in case of protest

Islamabad: An anti -terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Thursday issued an arrest arrest for the opposition leader in the Omar Ayub Khan National Assembly in relation to a PTI protest held in October last year.

The case was recorded at the Police Station of the city of Shahzad against Ayub and other PTI leaders after clashes between supporters and Pakistan Police Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) on October 4, 2024.

The ATC judge, Tahir Abbas Sipra, issued an arrest arrest warrant for the opposition leader and canceled any previous bond granted to the suspects who did not appear.

However, Senator Azam Swati received an exemption from personal assistance, after a request submitted the previous day.

The court postponed more procedures until July 30.

Today’s development follows the recent decisions of the Anti -Terrorist Court issued by prison sentences of up to 10 years to high -level PTI level leaders in relation to the disturbances of May 9, 2023.

An anti -terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday sentenced several PTI leaders, including Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Mian Mehmood Ur Rasheed, 10 years in prison in relation to the case of May 9.

The Court also granted sentences to the former governor of Punjab, Omar Sarfraz Chema, the Senator of PTI, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Affzal Azeem Pahat in the same case.

However, the court acquitted the former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Hamza Azeem Pahat, Rana Tanveer and Aizaz Rafiq in the case.

On the same day, ATC in Sargodha also sentenced the opposition leader of the Punjab Assembly, Ahmed Khan Bachar, MNA MOHAMMAD AHMED Chattha and several other workers from PTI to 10 years each in prison in a case of vandalism related to the disturbances of May 9.
