Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it will be removing the “2” in supervision 2, along with important year-long plans for the shooter hero.
During the latest Overwatch Spotlight livestream, the studio revealed that less than four years after launch supervision 2the title will once again be simply “supervision” when his first year-long narrative begins next month.
“supervision “It’s more than just a single digit: it’s a living universe that continues to grow, continues to surprise, and continues to bring together players from around the world,” Blizzard explained in a press release. “This year marks a huge turning point in how the development team envisions the future of supervisionso we will officially remove ‘2’ and move forward as ‘supervision‘.”
The story, titled “The Reign of Talon,” will begin on February 10 with Season 1 and will be told through “a multifaceted, fully connected story throughout the entire year” through Season 6. The arc begins with a new cinematic and will unfold through motion comics, in-game events, new voice lines, animated hero trailers, and short stories.
After The Reign of Talon concludes, a new story and season 1 will be released in 2027.
To tell the next story, supervision will receive 10 new heroes throughout the year, with the first five appearing when Season 1 begins next month.
They include three characters from the antagonist faction Talon, Domina (Tank), Emre (Damage) and Mizuki (Support), while the supervision The team will get Anran (Damage) and Jetpack Cat (Support). New heroes are expected to be added between Season 2 and Season 6.
In addition to a UI/UX overhaul, a competitive rank reset, Stadium Hero, Vendetta, and other system and match improvements, Blizzard will be adding new sub-roles split between the three existing roles, each with their own specific abilities.
Tanks will get Bruiser, Initiator and Stalwart. Damage is divided into Sniper, Flanker, Specialist and Recon, and Support will be made up of Tactical, Medic and Survivor.
Next season will also see the addition of a Conquest meta-event, offering new story-linked missions and a host of rewards over five weeks, as well as a new Japan Night map in Season 3, and new collaborations and hero skins to look forward to.
From February 10 to February 23, supervision will team up with hello kitty and friends for a crossover that will feature six themed hero skins for Juno, Kiriko, Mercy, D.Va, Widowmaker, and Lucio.
Reign of Talon will have faction-themed skins, along with new packs, regular store updates, and a new Mythic hero skin each season, starting with Mercy’s Celestial Guardian and Juno’s Star Shooter in Season 1. Mei will also receive her first Mythic mid-season.
Last but not least, supervision will also come to Nintendo Switch 2, with the existing supervision 2which is now playable on both Switch platforms and will receive an enhanced Switch 2 edition in the spring.
