Owen Cooper achieved a major milestone by becoming the youngest to win a Golden Globe.
The 16-year-old star won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for his role in Adolescence Like Jamie Miller.
After receiving the award, Cooper expressed his gratitude for the support he received for his debut role in his acceptance speech.
“Wow, being here with a Golden Globe doesn’t seem real at all,” he began. “What an incredible journey my family and I have had to go through.”
He added: “We will always be grateful for what these people have done for me and my family. What started out as what I thought [was]’It may be good, it may be horrible.’ I never know.’ “So I took a chance and went to theater classes.”
Speaking about his experience taking drama classes, Cooper revealed that he was “the only guy there.” and it was “embarrassing.”
The British actor continued: “But I got through it and I’m still a learner. I’m still learning every day. I’m still learning from the people I sat with, you sat in front of me, who inspired me.”
He then credited Netflix for casting him in the series, before concluding: “Let 2026 come. You will never walk alone.”
Cooper faced Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Walton Goggins (The White Lotus), Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Tramell Tillman (Severance) and Ashley Walters (Adolescent).
Following his big win, Cooper is set for his big screen debut as young Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights release on February 14.
