Pa looking for the bicameral system in Punjab

LAHORE:

The Punjab Assembly, with a majority vote, approved a resolution required by an amendment to the Constitution to establish a parliamentary system in PUNJAB similar to the National Assembly and the Senate at the federal level.

The resolution, jointly presented by the ruler League Muslim from Pakistan-Nawaz (PML-N) and its Popular Pakistan Party (PPP), highlighted the massive population of Punjab, stating that among 171 countries, only 11 nations have a larger population than Punjab.

Given this demographic size, the resolution emphasized the need for a broader representation of experts and professionals in administrative matters and decision making.

Although the current constitutional framework does not provide this system, the Chamber urged the Federal Government to introduce the necessary amendments to allow Punjab to have a parliamentary system such as the Federation.

In a separate resolution, legislators unanimously condemned Bannu’s recent attack and expressed their unwavering support for the armed forces of Pakistan, recognizing their sacrifices to maintain national security.

The camera procedures began three hours and 50 minutes late, which caused strong reactions of treasure and opposition banks, especially because many members were fasting.

When the session began, the opposition legislators entered the assembly, singing slogans in favor of the founding president of PTI, Imran Khan.

Due to the absence of the parliamentary secretary, the scheduled session of questions and answers was postponed.

PPP MPA Shazia Abid accused Punjab police officers to harass their family members and even stop their child, demanding RS200,000 for their release.

The revelation caused outrage in the party lines, with legislators condemning the incident. In response, Vice President Zaheer Iqbal Channer sent the matter to the privilege committee and summoned the police superintendent (SP) concerned before March 12, ordering him to submit a report to the Chamber.

Opposition legislators criticized the provincial government for their lack of comprehensive policies to support farmers, warning of an imminent wheat crisis. They also demanded the immediate activation of the Secretariat of Southern Punjab, arguing that although billions spent in its construction, the installation remains non -functional.

They insisted that making the Secretariat operate would help solve the complaints of more than 40 million people in southern Punjab.

During the process, Vice President Channer postponed a resolution presented by Shoaib Siddiqi of IPP, which sought approval to build a five -star hotel within the Gaddafi stadium to address public inconveniences during Crickt’s events.

The resolution was delayed until the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provides an official response.

After completing the agenda of the day, Vice President Channer postponed the house until March 12 at 11:00 am
