The Indiana Pacers are beginning to resemble a Destiny team, if they still didn’t look like one.

Following 15 in the last quarter, the Pacers erased that deficit and achieved great discomfort in game 1 of the NBA finals on Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 15 -point advantage at the beginning of the fourth quarter was the largest game of OKC. But after the Pacers called for a waiting time, they were 15-4 on their own to return to four. The Thunder ended up moving a little to lead at nine, but they responded with another race, this 10-2, to suddenly continue with 48.1 remaining seconds.

Gilgous-Alexander lost a shot with 11.0 seconds, and Tyrese Haliburton responded with the winner of the game with 0.3 seconds. It was Indiana’s first advantage of the entire game, since most of the game had been thunder.

Indiana entered as two -digit losers, and that seemed to cover most of the contest. Instead, it is a 111-110 victory for the Pacers, the first in the NBA finals since 2000.

In the 9:27 finals, the Pacers surpassed the Thunder, 32-16, and it was a 12-2 race in the final 2:38.

It is another crazy return for the Pacers this postseason: in almost 1,500 playoff games since 1997, only four times has returned to win after continuing for seven points in the last minute of the fourth quarter or extra time: the Pacers have won three of those games only this season. This was not adjusted to that criterion, but however, it is attributed as an incredible return.

“It’s not over until it ends,” said Haliburton, making his best impression of Yogi Berra, after the game. “It doesn’t end until the clock reaches zero.”

Surprisingly, no pacer had 20 points in the game, while the MVP Shai Gilgous-Alexander had a 38 game for Thunder. But, six pacemaker scored in two digits, and five were at least 14.
