ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday emphasized that Pakistan was eager to foster cooperation with Iran in fields of mutual interest, including economic development and bilateral trade.

He was speaking to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who visited him along with a delegation in the Prime Minister’s Chamber.

The Prime Minister stated that both countries condemned state-sponsored terrorism and have always supported each other in the wake of unilateral aggressions against their sovereign states.

He added that unfortunately both countries have been victims of terrorism and therefore firmly share the determination for global peace, prosperity and positive cooperation in the region. “Pakistan and Iran are determined to work on cohesion and cooperation for the unity of the Ummah.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday also welcomed Google’s decision to set up offices and invest in Pakistan, terming the establishment of Google product assembly line in Haripur as a positive development.

International IT companies like Google are expressing confidence in government policies aimed at promoting ease of doing business and investment in Pakistan, the prime minister said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to overseas Pakistanis as overseas remittances crossed $3.4 billion, up 11.9 percent in October.

The prime minister, in a statement, said a steady rise in remittances reflected the confidence expatriates had in the government’s policies.

“Overseas Pakistanis are our invaluable asset and serve the nation and country by sending their hard-earned money,” he said.
