Pakistan, ADB partner to promote climatic resilience


Islamabad:

The Federal Government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have agreed to strengthen collaboration on climate resilience and environmental sustainability during high -level conversations in Islamabad on Monday.

The Federal Minister of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, and the general director of ADB, Bruno Carrasco, directed discussions about a comprehensive strategy to address the pressing climate challenges of Pakistan.

Both parties emphasized the need for urgent action, with a particular approach in supporting the climatic initiatives led by young people through incubation, tutoring and financing opportunities.

The Association aims to train young innovators to develop scalable solutions while positioning Pakistan competitively in the global green economy.

The meeting explored roads for greater climatic financing, with plans to mobilize investments for sustainable development projects.

Carbon credit markets also appeared prominently in discussions, and both parties agreed to explore mechanisms to monetize emission reductions and improve environmental performance.

Malik emphasized the importance of moving from policy planning to implementation, ensuring Pakistan’s full commitment to achieve concrete results. “We must ensure that our strategies translate into an impact of the real world,” he said.

The ADB delegation reaffirmed its support for the Pakistan climate agenda, highlighting the opportunities to share knowledge, loans based on capacity construction policies and programs to strengthen institutional responses to climate change.
