LAHORE: The arrangements for a series of tri-nation that involves Pakistan, Afghanistan and the EAU entered their final stages, with an official expected announcement after the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Las Fuentes said Thursday.
According to experts, discussions about the series will end outside the ACC sessions. It is likely that the schedule and full places are revealed once the meeting is over.
The sources also indicated that the triseries will be carried out in the EAU before the Asia 2025 Cup.
Initially, Pakistan was scheduled to receive Afghanistan in a bilateral series this August. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed to turn the series into a tri-nation event and transfer it to the EAU.
The objective of organizing the series in the EAU is to help players adapt to conditions before the Asia Cup.
It should be noted that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ACC will take place today in Bangladesh, with an overwhelming majority of member countries that confirm participation.
Of the 25 members of ACC, 24 have confirmed their assistance, far exceeding the required quorum of 13 in what is being cheered as a great diplomatic success for the president of ACC, Mohsin Naqvi.
Despite the initial resistance of the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sri Lanka Crickt (SLC) and Oman Cricket on the place, the persistent efforts of NAQVI said that the AGM proceeds as programmed in the capital of Bangladesh.
Significantly, India is also participating in the meeting virtually, and the vice president of Bcci Rajev Shukla hopes to assist a change marked since the previous position of the Board.
