The Pakistan Army and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have begun the joint military exercise “Warrior-IX”, the ninth edition of the series of bilateral counter-terrorism exercises held annually between the two battleship brothers, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The army’s media wing said the exercise began on December 1 and focused on counter-terrorism operations, aiming to improve interoperability, refine professional skills and exchange best practices in modern warfare.

Pakistan and China enjoy long-standing and time-tested defense cooperation, based on mutual trust and strategic partnership.

The Warrior-IX exercise is a testament to the strong military-to-military relations between the two countries and reaffirms their shared commitment to regional peace, stability and security, the ISPR statement read.

“Commander Mangla Corps Major General Bian Xiaoming, Deputy Chief of Staff of Western Theater Command, PLA, and other senior military officials of Pakistan and China attended the opening ceremony of the exercise held at the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC), Pabbi,” he added.
