
Brussels: The European Union (EU) and Pakistan celebrated on Thursday the tenth political dialogue in Brussels, covering key issues on the bilateral cooperation of the EU -Pakistan, as well as regional and international affairs, including multilateral cooperation. However, both parties agreed to deepen dialogue and discussions on security -related issues.
Pakistan and the EU reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Strategic Participation Plan (SEP) signed in 2019. Both parties aim to further deepen cooperation in all areas covered by the SEP.
The two parties reiterated their resolution to continue with a close commitment under the GSP+frame, said a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They recognized significant cooperation in several aspects of migration, with the aim of maintaining the third integral dialogue of migration and mobility later in 2025.
In addition to bilateral cooperation, both parties also exchanged views on regional and global issues.
The EU and Pakistan recognized the importance of multifaceted cooperation in security matters, including counter-terrorism and counter-mirror.
They condemned all forms of terrorism.
Both parties agreed to the need for efforts based on dialogue and diplomacy to solve controversial problems and underlined the importance of defending international law and holiness of international agreements and treaties.
The parties exchanged points of view on the situation in Ukraine, as well as Jammu and Kashmir. Both parties emphasized the need to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, in full respect of the principles of international law and the UN letter.
They agreed the urgent need to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Both parties requested the resumption of a high fire and expressed support to initiatives that contribute to a fair, lasting and integral peace in Palestine according to the solution of two states.
The two parties reaffirmed their aspiration to convene the seventh strategic dialogue in 2025, underlining its importance to strengthen Pakistan’s cooperation -UE.
They agreed to hold the next political dialogue meeting in 2026 in Islamabad.
The EU delegation was headed by Olof Skoog, general secretary of the European External Action Service, and the Pakistani delegation by Amna Baloch, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
