Pakistan and Azerbaijan signed multiple agreements on Monday to strengthen cooperation in commerce, energy, tourism, education and other key sectors during the official visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Baku.
Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Ilham Aliyev witnessed the signature ceremony, which followed their bilateral meeting and delegation level conversations focused on expanding ties in multiple fields.
One of the key agreements includes a memorandum of understanding between the Oil Company of the State of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Organization of Border Works of Pakistan (FWO) and Pakistan state oil (PSO) for collaboration in the White Oil Oil project White Oil White Oil White Oil White Pipeline.
In addition, Socar signed the Mou separated with Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) and PSO to increase energy cooperation, including the sale and purchase of LNG load and oil products.
Another agreement was signed to amend the existing framework for the LNG trade between both nations, allowing Pakistan LNG to strengthen its energy supply chain through Azerbaijan’s resources.
In a movement to promote cultural and economic ties, the foreign ministers of both countries exchanged a memorandum of understanding that established cooperation between Nakhchivan, an autonomous city in Azerbaijan and Lahore.
The agreement aims to promote collaboration in culture, tourism, urban development, education, economy and science and technology.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz received an honor guard at the Zagulba Presidential Palace in Azerbaijan on Monday when he began his official two -day visit to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the Pakistani prime minister upon arrival at the Palace, where the national hymns of both countries were played before the formal reception by the Azerbaijan armed forces.
The visit marks the second trip of Prime Minister Shehbaz to Azerbaijan since he assumed the position in March 2024.
