Islamabad:
Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed on Saturday to establish joint work groups (JWG) aimed at strengthening bilateral connectivity and raising their relationship in a strategic economic association focused on rail and commercial infrastructure.
The announcement followed a high -level meeting held at the Ferrocarrile Ministry, with the Minister of State for Railways and Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani in the chair.
The session brought together the key stakeholders to explore the ways to strengthen cross -border ties and advance mutual economic interests.
The State Minister reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to improve commercial connectivity based on railroads with Azerbaijan. He pointed out that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is actively looking for a comprehensive strategy for the development and modernization of Pakistan railroads.
The Secretary of Railroads gave a detailed informative session on the Pakistan rail network, highlighting their existing capacity and describing the perspectives for a future expansion to accommodate regional load and logistics operations.
During the meeting, both parties also discussed the rail agreement signed between Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, underlining their importance in the advance of regional connectivity.
Key officials of several Pakistani ministries and departments participated in a high -level meeting aimed at advancing in bilateral connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, the DPM/FM Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Azerbaiyan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, on Saturday, reaffirmed the strategic association between the two countries and expressed their satisfaction with the joint efforts to further strengthen close and fraternal ties.
During a telephone conversation, they discussed areas of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release.
