Pakistan, Bangladesh agrees the entrance without visas for diplomats, officials

Pakistan and Bangladesh agreed to grant free admission to the headlines of diplomatic and official passports, as part of the efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, Radio Pakistan reported.

The agreement reached a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and his counterpart from Bangladesh, general lieutenant (retired) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The two parties also discussed the growing cooperation in internal security, police training, antarcotic and antihuman traffic. In addition, they explored joint measures against terrorism and the possibility of exchange programs between the police academies of the two nations.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Bangladesh, Chowdhury welcomed Naqvi with an honor guard. Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhury expressed the importance of Naqvi’s visit to promote bilateral cooperation between Islamabad and Dhaka. He also thanked NAQVI for offering police training to Bangladesh officials.

A Joint Committee has formed, headed by Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, to further boost cooperation between the two countries. Chowdhury confirmed that a high -level Bangladesh delegation would soon visit Islamabad to tour the Safe City project and the National Police Academy.

At the beginning of February, Pakistan and Bangladesh resumed direct trade on an official level for the first time since the 1971 separation, with the first burden approved by the government that left Port Qasim.

This marks a historical step in bilateral commercial relations, since Bangladesh agreed to buy 50,000 tons of Pakistani rice through the Commercial Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).

In April, Pakistan and Bangladesh resumed high -level diplomatic consultations for the first time in 15 years. High officials on both sides gathered in Dhaka to relive bilateral commitment and address regional and international matters of mutual interest.

The consultations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FOC) were held at the state of Padma state guests and led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Amna Baloch and his counterpart from Bangladesh, MD Jashim Uddin. The meeting marks the first formal FOC between the two countries since 2010, pointing out the renewed efforts to rebuild trust and cooperation.
