
El Cairo: Abdullah Nawaz and Anas Ali Shah guided Pakistan to the quarterfinals of the male team of the World Squash World Championship with a 2-0 victory over Poland in the Black Ball Club on Tuesday.
Abdullah gave Pakistan the perfect beginning, claiming a 3-1 victory over Jan Samborski in the opening rubber to put his side ahead.
The opening game remained uniform in 1-1 after the first two sets before Abdullah organized an amazing return, surpassing Samborski 11-8 and 11-2 in later sets.
Anas then represented Pakistan in the second game against Franciszek Michniewicz, who offered a remarkable fight but ended up losing it 3-2.
The national player had a triumphant start in the game, ensuring the first 11-7 set, only for Michniewicz to respond winning the next two and move one to level the score for Poland.
Anas, however, showed steel nerves and organized a sensational return by winning the fourth set and forcing the game to the decision.
In the fifth and last set, Anas Bamboozed Michniewicz 11-3 to gather a dominant victory for Pakistan with a plenty of play, which was scheduled to play between Muhammad Umair Arif and Mateusz Ptaszek.
Pakistan will face England in the quarterfinals of the male team competition in the Junior Squash World Championship today.
For the not versed, Pakistan’s trip in the individual competition of the Squash Junior World Championship has already ended after the overwhelming 3-0 defeat of Abdullah Nawaz against Adam Hawal of Egypt in the 16 round.
