Defense cooperation, training and regional security highlighted in talks between military leaders
Defense Forces Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Libya on an official trip and met with Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief.
A contingent of the Libyan Armed Forces presented a guard of honor to Field Marshal Munir upon his arrival.
During the meeting with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, regional security and ways to enhance bilateral military and defense cooperation. They highlighted the importance of collaboration in training, capacity building and the fight against terrorism.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defense ties with Libya on the basis of shared interests.
Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar praised the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and expressed interest in expanding defense cooperation with Pakistan.
In early December 2025, Field Marshal Asim Munir addressed a guard of honor ceremony in Rawalpindi, highlighting the historical importance of the newly established Defense Forces Headquarters. He described it as a crucial step in the changing military landscape.
He said given the growing and changing threats, it is imperative to enhance multi-domain operations under a unified system of the three armed forces.
