Pakistan and China reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the signing of the Joint Action Plan 2024-2029.
The development is based on the consensus reached earlier this week at a meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In addition, Pakistan and China have expressed their satisfaction on Thursday for the positive trajectory of their ties and agreed to continue working closely in the next phase of the Chinese-Pakistan Economic Corridor improved (CPEC 2.0), with five new runners.
The understanding occurred during the meeting of Prime Minister Shahbaz with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in Beijing.
The prime minister expressed his gratitude to Chinese leadership and people for their unwavering support for territorial integrity, the sovereignty and socioeconomic development of Pakistan. He also congratulated China for the organization of the SCO of Chiefs of the State Summit in Tianjin and extended congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the success of the Chinese people in the resistance war and the world’s anti -fascist war.
Highlighting the role of CPEC in the development of Pakistan during the last decade, Shehbaz emphasized the need for the early implementation of the ML-I project, the realignment of KKH and the operationalization of the port of Gwadar. He emphasized a great potential for B2B cooperation, citing agriculture, mines and minerals, textiles, the industrial sector and IT as priority areas. The prime minister also informed his counterpart at the B2B investment conference held earlier in the day, which attracted more than 300 Pakistani companies and 500 Chinese companies.

Reiterating Pakistan’s support for President XI’s initiatives to strengthen multilateralism, including the global governance initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, Shehbaz said Pakistan hoped to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties with China next year. The meeting concluded with a lunch organized by Prime Minister Li in honor of the prime minister and his delegation.
SCO Summit
Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Tianjin on Saturday to attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The prime minister is accompanied by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar and the senior government officials. During the Summit, the Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global pressures, describing strategies to strengthen the role of SCO in promoting cooperation and stability.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), founded in 2001 by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzista, Tayikistan and Uzbekistan, is a permanent intergovernmental organism aimed at promoting political, economic, economic and cultural cooperation while maintaining the “spirit of Shanghai” of mutual trust, equality and non -speaker.
Its supreme organ of decision -making is the Council of Heads of State, with the Secretariat of Beijing and the regional anti -terrorism structure in Tashkent that serves as permanent institutions.
Today, the SCO includes 10 Member States, including Pakistan, India, Iran and Belarus, along with two observer states and 14 dialogue members. The organization has forged associations with international and regional organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the Southeast Asian Association of Southeast (ASEAN), the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and COMMONWEALTH OF INDEPENDENT STATES (IC), formalized through multiple comprehension memories since 2005.
