Measure taken as a security measure related to Indian military exercises taking place near the border with Pakistan
Pakistan decided to temporarily close parts of its border airspace with India for two days, citing precautionary measures amid Indian military exercises near the border. The move is a temporary security measure linked to Indian military exercises taking place near the border with Pakistan.
The closure will remain in force on October 28 and 29, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. The restriction applies to several flight routes within the Karachi and Lahore flight reporting regions that connect to Indian airspace.
The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a Notice to Airmen to all airlines and aviation operators, warning them to take necessary precautions and plan alternative flight routes during the restricted hours.
Commercial and cargo flights transiting the affected corridors are expected to experience minor delays or diversions during the closure period, although normal operations will resume outside the restricted window.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Airports Authority has launched the implementation of a digital payment system in all airports in the country, in line with government directives and the State Bank of Pakistan’s financial inclusion drive.
The measure aims to promote convenience for passengers, ensure transparent transactions and support the transition to a modern financial ecosystem.
