The Pakistan Foreign Ministry has confirmed the reports that the Afghan authorities tried to establish a border post on the Pakistani side in Torkham.
This development follows the closure of Torkham’s border crossing last Friday, which has caused significant interruptions, said Express News.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, confirmed these efforts during a weekly informative session, highlighting the ongoing challenges on the border.
Shafqat Ali Khan explained that the Afghan authorities had been trying to create a position on the Pakistani side of the border, which would have been a violation of the existing protocols.
The Pakistani government has officially expressed concerns with the Afghan authorities and urged them to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiations. “We have told the Afghan authorities that this issue can be resolved through adequate discussions,” said Shafqat Ali Khan.
This attempt to establish a border post is part of a broader issue of border management between the two nations. Pakistan has declared that multiple agencies are involved in the management of border security and ensuring that they are not unilateral actions that none of the countries can affect the general security of the region.
Shafqat Ali Khan also addressed concerns about the American military team that remained in Afghanistan, which according to reports is used by terrorist groups.
“American advanced weapons that remain in Afghanistan are now being used by terrorists, and some of them are even introduced to contraband in Pakistan,” said Shafqat Ali Khan, even more emphasizing the security threat raised by these weapons.
In addition, Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed that eight Pakistani had been deported from the United States and returned to Pakistan. The details of their identities are being managed by the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Research Agency (FIA).
Pakistan is working with US authorities to facilitate the return of these citizens.
Shafqat Ali Khan also discussed the recent diplomatic commitments, including high -level visits and discussions with international leaders. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen his ties with countries such as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Eau.
He also mentioned the importance of additional dialogue with respect to the role of Afghanistan in support for terrorism and his continuous instability.
With respect to the closure of Torkham’s border, Shafqat Ali Khan described it as a complex problem that involved multiple agencies and urged all parties to seek a friendly solution to avoid greater interruptions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor the situation closely and is in contact with the Afghan authorities to resolve the border dispute.
