Following the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has begun to send help supplies to the victims of the earthquake in Myanmar.
The first aid shipment includes 35 tons of goods, including tents, canvases, blankets, foods to eat, medications and water modules.
Relief supplies are being transported by a special plane to Yangon, Myanmar. The Federal Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, attended the ceremony for sending help supplies, together with NDMA officials, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Myanmar ambassador.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry declared that, according to Prime Minister’s instructions, a total of 70 tons of help to Myanmar will be sent. He stressed that Pakistan meets the people of Myanmar in this difficult time.
A special message of sympathy for the people of Myanmar was also transmitted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Myanmar ambassador expressed his gratitude to the government and the people of Pakistan for his help and praised the efforts made by Pakistan for help efforts.
Additional 35 relief supplies will be sent soon as part of the second shipment to help victims even more.
Previously, Myanmar declared a week of national mourning on Monday about the devastating earthquake in the country, when the death toll passed 2,000 and hopes faded to find more survivors in the debris of ruined buildings.
The national flags will fly at half -mast until April 6 “with sympathy for the loss of lives and damage” of the mass earthquake on Friday, said the ruling board in a statement.
The Board also announced a minute of silence on Tuesday, to begin at 12:51 pm, the precise time that the 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit.
People must stop where they must pay tribute to the victims, the Board said, while the media should stop the transmission and show symbols of mourning, and prayers will be offered in temples and pagodas.
