The Minister of State of the Interior Talal Chaudhry has asked the international community and the WhatsApp digital platform to take immediate measures against the Tehreek-E-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) WhatsApp channel, which is being used to carry out terrorist activities, spread violent propaganda, glorify terrorism and facilitate terrorist communications.

“The TTP is operating its WhatsApp channels and sending bulk messages to proliferate its violent and odious ideology, to spread its harmful narratives and for the glorification of its terrorist activities,” said Chaudhry.

The State Minister reiterated the “zero tolerance” position of Pakistan against terrorism, emphasizing the country’s sacrifices in the search for global peace.
Chaudhry urged the international community and WhatsApp to collaborate with Pakistan to counteract the extremist content identifying and blocking such channels. “These accounts must be blocked and the necessary algorithms created to automatically detect and automatically suspect such handles and numbers,” he added.
The TTP has long used Internet platforms and online media to spread their messages and obtain public support. In 2012, Facebook closed an account called ‘Umar Media TTP Page’, which the group had used for recruitment and propaganda, including the publication of a quarterly magazine and video editing.
After the Retirement of the United States from Afghanistan and the acquisition of the Taliban, Facebook also prohibited WhatsApp accounts linked to the Taliban. A Facebook spokesman told AFP at that time: “Taliban are sanctioned as a terrorist organization under US law and we have prohibited them from our services under our dangerous organization policies.”
