Pakistan, Indonesia discuss defense ties

The Minister of Defense of Indonesia, Lieutenant Gen (retired) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin expressed the desire of his country to boost defense ties and explore the possible collaboration in defense production while he was with the maximum civil and military leadership of the country

General Sjamsoeddin today asked Prime Minister Shehbaz in the prime minister’s office, where he reiterated Indonesia’s desire to “further strengthen defense ties with Pakistan and explore possible areas for cooperation, especially in defense production,” according to a statement from PID administered by the Government.

The Indonesian Minister transmitted the best wishes of President Pabowo Subianto for Prime Minister and the People of Pakistan, added the press release.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz “reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to explore and expand collaboration with Indonesia in joint investment companies in mutually beneficial projects,” said the statement.

The prime minister also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to improve bilateral cooperation with Indonesia on all ways, including economic, strategic and commercial sectors, together with the production of defense and defense.

He stressed that Pakistan and Indonesia enjoyed a “long -standing friendly friendship in the shared cultural, religious and historical ties, based on international forums.”

Both parties emphasized the importance of “improving multifaceted bilateral cooperation,” according to the PID.

“The meeting stressed the historical, fraternal and friendly bilateral relations of Prokistan and Indonesia,” said the statement.

Remembering his meeting last year with the president of Indonesia, Pabowo Subianto, regardless of the 8th Development Summit in Cairo, Prime Minister Shehbaz transmitted his best wishes for the Indonesian President.

The prime minister also reviewed ongoing initiatives under the Pakistan-Indonesian Defense Cooperation Agreement and agreed to “accelerate the implementation of key areas of mutual interest,” added the PID.

Meeting with COAS

Indonesia Defense Minister, Lieutenant General (RETD) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with the head of Army Personnel (COAS), the field marshal also at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to discuss the strengthening of military ties, the wing of military media reported.

According to a statement issued by Public Relations between Services (ISPR), the Minister of Defense of Indonesia, which leads a delegation of higher representatives of several military and intelligence agencies, held broad conversations with the maximum military leadership of Pakistan.

Both parties exchanged points of view on regional security, defense cooperation and roads to improve bilateral military collaboration. The meeting stressed long -standing friendship between the two nations, with special emphasis on mutual cooperation to guarantee peace and stability in the region.

The Munir Field Marshal stressed the importance of mutual cooperation to maintain peace and stability in the region. The Indonesian Minister, in turn, appreciated the professional achievements of the Pakistan army, particularly his role in the fight against terrorism.
