Washington: The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that Pakistan’s representatives will come to the United States next week while the southern country seeks to reach an agreement on rates.
Pakistan faces a possible 29% tariff on exports to the United States due to a commercial surplus of $ 3 billion with the largest economy in the world, under the rates announced by Washington last month in countries around the world. Subsequently, the tariffs were suspended for 90 days so that negotiations could be carried out.
Last month, Pakistan decided to send a high -level delegation to the US.
The decision was taken on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a review meeting held in Islamabad on April 9 with the group focused on increasing national exports and discussing the recent tariff measures of Washington.
The delegation will include prominent commercial figures and leading exporters, reflecting the government’s intention to involve the key interested parties in configuring a mutually beneficial path.

The Minister of Finance, Muhammad Aurengzeb, and Ambassador Jamieson Greer, commercial representative of the United States, formally began the conversations through a telephone call on Thursday, said an advisor to the Minister of Finance in X.
Earlier this month, Pakistan had offered a bilateral trade agreement of Tariff zero to the United States, government sources told PakGazette News.
“Pakistan is offering to hold a bilateral agreement with zero tariffs in selected tariff lines, with mutual interests, to expand bilateral trade in multiple sectors,” said a high -level source when asked about the new policy offered to the United States.
In a statement today, the advisor, Khurram Schehzad, said: “Both parties exchanged their point of view through a constructive commitment to the understanding that detailed discussions of the technical level would continue in the coming weeks.
The two parties expressed their confidence in the progress of the negotiations for a successful conclusion as soon as possible, he added in an X position.
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal told him Reuters Earlier this month, Pakistan plans to offer concessions to US companies to invest in their mining sector as part of the negotiations with Washington on the rates.
He said that Islamabad will offer companies opportunities to invest in mining projects mainly in the province of Baluchistan of Pakistan through joint companies with local companies, providing concessions such as lease subsidies.
The minister added that this would be additional to efforts to increase imports from the United States, particularly cotton and edible oils, which are currently scarce in Pakistan.
Pakistan would present its offer of concessions for mining investment to US officials during tariffs about tariffs in the coming weeks.
