Pakistan pays tribute to victims of terrorism

Islamabad:

Pakistan joined the international community on Thursday to solemnly mark the international day of memory and tribute to victims of terrorism, reiterating their unwavering commitment to eliminate the scourge in all its forms and demonstrations.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, in a statement, said that the day serves as a reminder of collective responsibility to remain in solidarity with victims of terrorism, honor their memory and reaffirm the global resolution against this threat.

He pointed out that Pakistan has been one of the countries most affected by terrorism, suffering more than 90,000 victims and economic losses exceeding US $ 150 billion.

“Our security forces and people have shown unparalleled resilience and have made immense sacrifices to protect not only our homeland but also regional and global peace,” he added.

Ambassador Khan recalled recent terrorist incidents, including Jaffar Express attack and the bombardment of a school bus in Khuzdar. He stressed that terrorism in Pakistan is not an isolated phenomenon but “orchestrated, planned and executed through borders.”
