Pakistan plans the repatriation of students and pilgrims stranded in Iran and Iraq – ishaq dar


Islamabad:

The Vice Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, confirmed that, in the light of the current regional situation, the Government is taking all the necessary measures to guarantee the welfare and safety of the Pakistani citizens.

Speaking on Sunday, he said that the evacuation of 450 Pakistani pilgrims from Iran was successfully completed the previous day. He added that arrangements were also being made to safely evacuate the Pakistani students residing in Iran, with the first phase that implied the return of 154 students.

In the neighbor Iraq, the Pakistani pilgrims remain stranded due to airspace closures. Dar assured that the Pakistan embassy in Iran is in constant contact with those affected, and efforts are being made to guarantee their safe accommodation and potential evacuation.

Pakistan embassies in the region are closely monitoring the situation and are totally committed to providing assistance and supervising the safe repatriation of citizens.
