Pakistan (PR) railroads have launched an investigation into the accusation of their additional general (mechanical) manager, Rahat Mirza, who said he was physically assaulted by a grade officer 19 Tariq Latif on March 29.
According to a notification issued on Friday by the Director of Public Relations Personnel, Secretary Railways has ordered the Inspector General of the Public Relations Police to carry out the investigation and present a report within three days.
In his complaint, Mirza, an officer 21, was relieved that Latif, an officer of the Commercial Railway Traffic Group (RCTG), threatened to kill him in the Old’s office. He asked the Executive Director of Public Relations to provide security in view of the threat and at the same time take strict measures against Latif.
According to a report, dozens of officers, including senior mechanical engineers, threatened the Public Relations Administration with stopping the work in the next few days if not immediately strict disciplinary action against Tariq Latif was taken.
Despite a written complaint filed by Mirza, with a rapid action demand, the Ministry of Railways, in a surprise movement on Thursday, appointed Latif as general director (surveillance), based at the headquarters of the PR LAHORE, the report added.
