Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Russian President Vladimir Putin held an important meeting on Tuesday in Beijing before the next events in China. The two leaders promised to strengthen bilateral relations through trade, energy and regional connectivity.
Shehbaz praised Putin’s role in promoting narrower relations, saying: “relations between the two countries have improved in recent years on the basis of mutual interests.”
The Prime Minister specifically mentioned that after his previous meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), both parties agreed to improve the visits of the delegations. The two countries also signed new protocols in key sectors that include agriculture, iron, steel, energy and transport. ”
Shehbaz highlighted the importance of a proposed commercial corridor that joins Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying that it would boost regional prosperity. He added: “Pakistan respects the ties of the Russian Federation with India, but we also want to build very strong relationships.”
It can be mentioned that Pakistan imported Russian oil last year that markedly promoted bilateral commercial volumes. Shehbaz expressed confidence that commercial links would continue to expand.
“Together, both countries would make more efforts to promote bilateral ties and cooperation, particularly in commerce and commerce,” he said.
Putin said Moscow valued its long -standing association with Islamabad. “Pakistan has always been our traditional partner in Asia and we appreciate these ties,” he said.

The Russian president also extended the condolences about lost lives in recent natural disasters in Pakistan, expressing optimism that the country would exceed the challenges.
The leaders discussed cooperation at the interparliamentary level and within the United Nations, where Pakistan is a member of the non -permanent security council.
Putin invited Shehbaz to attend the SCO Heads summit in Russia this November, to which the prime minister replied by saying: “He is waiting for the visit.”
Previously, during a meeting in the Great Hall of the People of Beijing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed their commitment to the Chinese-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and agreed to advance in their next phase through five new runners destined to expand cooperation in the key economic sectors.
The two leaders emphasized that the Pakistan-China association was unique and incomparable and agreed that this link should be reflected through better cooperation in multiple fields.
Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed the desire to continue working closely with China for the successful implementation of the next improved CPEC phase, qualifying the project as a flagship of the Belt and Road initiative of President XI (BRI).
Shehbaz appreciated China’s unwavering support for territorial integrity, the socio-economic development of Pakistan and said that CPEC would help both nations build a community of Pakistan-China even stronger with a shared future.
President XI assured the Prime Minister that China would continue to help Pakistan in all fields of economic growth and development, particularly as the second phase of CPEC is launched.
Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Tianjin on Saturday to attend the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS), which was held from August 31 to September 1.
A day before, Shehbaz Sharif stressed the problem of the Indo Aguas Treaty (IWT) at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit (SCO) in China and requested “dialogue, diplomacy and consultation” instead of confrontation in all pending disputes.
In addition to Pakistan, the SCO consists of China, India, Russia, Iran, Kyrguistan, Tayikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. Other 16 countries are affiliated with the organization as observers or “dialogue partners.”
“We respect all international and bilateral treaties and hope that all the members of the OCS will continue the similar principles,” said Shehbaz, since the summit concluded, referring to the unilateral movement of India to the Hold The Hold The Iwt in bees in April.
