Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to establish a joint committee to produce songs, movies and documentaries, as part of the efforts to strengthen ties in the media industry.
The announcement was held on Wednesday after a meeting between the Minister of Information, Ataullah Tarar, and the Minister of Media Media of Saudi Arabia, Salman Al-Dosary in Riad, during the fourth edition of the Saudi Media Forum.
The forum, which runs from Wednesday to Friday, brings together more than 200 media professionals, innovative and opinion leaders around the world. This year’s theme is “average in an evolving world.”
The recently agreed joint committee will focus on collaborative productions, including songs, movies and documentaries. The ministers also discussed the improvement of cooperation in other sectors, such as exchanges of journalists and training programs.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of cooperation to combat wrong information and propaganda. Tantar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to support the 2030 vision of Saudi Arabia, which aims to diversify the economy of the kingdom and reduce its oil dependence.
He stressed that Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia was evolving a stronger economic association, with Saudi Arabia that plays a key role in the development of Pakistan.
Al-Dosary recognized the contributions of the Pakistani expatriates in the development of Saudi Arabia, noting that promoting cooperation in all sectors, including information, was a priority for the kingdom.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long been close regional partners and economic allies. In October 2024, both countries signed 34 agreements worth $ 2.8 billion to further increase their cooperation.
The kingdom is home to more than 2.7 million Pakistani expatriates, which makes it the main destination of remittances sent to Pakistan.
