CENTURION: Pakistan are eyeing first wickets on the fourth day of the first Test against South Africa, who resumed their second innings at 27-3 on Sunday.
Captain Temba Bavuma (1*) and Aiden Markram (22*) aim to dig deep and see their team reach the target of 148 runs set by the Shan Masood-led team in the first match of the two-match Test series.
The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
Pakistan need to get seven wickets while South Africa need 121 runs to win the match and secure a lead in the series.
A day earlier, Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shahzad scored early in the innings and put the home team under immense pressure. The first sacked starter Tony de Zorri, and the second sacked his replacement, Ryan Rickelton.
Abbas struck again and took Tristan Stubbs off the field while danger man Markram remained on the ground and was joined by captain Bavuma.
Before that, Marco Jansen had recorded a six-wicket haul in Pakistan’s second innings and the Men in Green were bowled out for 237 runs against South Africa’s first innings total of 301.
The national team had scored 211 runs in the first innings.
