With peace and security under unprecedented pressure, Pakistan has told the UN General Assembly that wars in the Middle East, Europe and Africa, along with the denial of self-determination, especially in Palestine and Kashmir, undermine the credibility of the international system.
“We must ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions and use all mechanisms based on the UN Charter to promote the just and peaceful resolution of disputes,” said Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, commenting on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ priorities for 2026, which he presented to the 193-member Assembly.
