Pakistan’s permanent representative before the UN, the ambassador to Iphtikhar Ahmad, on Friday condemned Israeli air attacks in Iran during an emergency session of the UN Security Council, calling them a flagrant violation of the UN letter and international law.

When addressing a session on the war, he urged members to issue a categorical rejection and an unconditional and unequivocal conviction of attacks and to take significant measures to stop the aggression.

He praised the previous appeal of Secretary General António Guterres for a high fire, declaring Pakistan’s full support for diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis.

Denouncing “unjustified and illegal” attacks on the peaceful nuclear facilities of Iran, emphasized that they not only violated the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (OIEA), but also challenged Geneva’s conventions and other global treaties.

Pakistan asked OIEA to publicly clarify his legal position and submit a full report to the Security Council.

Touching the humanitarian consequences, he expressed a deep concern for the loss of civil life and generalized devastation, warning that such actions raised serious risks to regional and global stability.

He also expressed apprehension for increasing tensions in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, citing similar violations of Israel, which, he said, further destabilizes the Middle East.

“The last crisis has aggravated the tensions in the region that arises from the continuum of Israel to Gaza, which has resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe for the Palestinian innocent, as well as their recurring violations of the international law in Syria, Lebanon and the kiosks. The security council is immediate Lebanon and burn them.

Ahmad urged the Security Council to take immediate measures, condemn Israel’s attacks against Iran, ensure a high immediate fire, protect nuclear and civil infrastructure and support renewed diplomacy under resolution 487 of the UN.

He warned that attacks on nuclear facilities endanger the ongoing diplomatic efforts and emphasized that a peaceful resolution should not be derailing for a greater military escalation.

“Israeli illegal attacks against Iran arrived at the time of intense diplomatic participation in Iran’s nuclear problem. These illegal actions should not be able to sink that dialogue. The parties must quickly return to the path of negotiations, which is the only viable means to reach a sustainable agreement with respect to the Iranian nuclear program,” he added.

Highlighting the ongoing negotiations between the US, E3 and Iran about Tehran’s nuclear program, Ahmad said that surprising the nuclear sites now ran the risk of undermining these delicate conversations.

He also requested the OIEA to maintain non -political professional monitoring of nuclear facilities to guarantee transparent and reliable reports.

“This is a fundamental moment. You cannot achieve a lasting solution through force,” he said. “Respect for International Law and UN Letter is the only way to follow. Diplomacy must have an opportunity.”
