Pakistan takes advantage of the surplus power capacity to feed Bitcoins mining, AI data centers

Pakistan has committed 2,000 megawatts of electricity to the artificial mining and intelligence data centers of Bitcoin, said the country’s Ministry of Finance.

The compromised energy is directed to the coal power plants that are currently executed to a capacity of 15%, reports Bloomberg, in an initiative headed by the Pakistan Crypto Council.

By taking advantage of surplus energy, the government expects to turn a liability into an asset. The authorities say that the Plan will create technology -related jobs and help attract capital abroad while the country works to stabilize its fragile economy, which approaches non -compliance in 2023.

Pakistan is also laying the foundations for a regulatory framework to support their estimates of 15 to 20 million cryptocurrency users.
