The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, has ordered the permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations to take immediate measures to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council.
The meeting is to address the security situation prevailing in southern Asia, exacerbated by the provocative actions of India, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement revealed that Pakistan has decided to formally inform the UN Security Council about current regional tensions, particularly highlighting the aggressive behavior of India.
Pakistan will also raise concerns about the illegal actions of India to suspend the Water Treaty (IWT), which regulates the use of the Indo River system. “Pakistan will inform the Security Council on how the aggressive actions of India are endangering regional peace and security,” said the statement.
The Ministry also emphasized that the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan aim to present facts to the international community to counteract the provocative position of India.
Meanwhile, Pakistan civil-military leadership will carry out information about national security on Sunday for representatives of political parties amid high tensions with India after an attack in Iiojk.
According to Associated Press of Pakistan (app), the information will be directed by the Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar and the general director of Public Relations between Services (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. It will focus on the current national security situation, especially in relation to growing friction with India.
The movement follows a April 22 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. India accused Pakistan of participation, a claim that Islamabad has strongly denied. Since then, both parties have exchanged strong statements, with India promising to point to those responsible and Pakistan warning of a firm response to any military action.
