Pakistan to witness the blood moon of the lunar eclipse today

The space research commission and the upper atmosphere of Pakistan (Supparco) announced that a total lunar eclipse will be visible in all Pakistan on the night of September 7, offering astronomy enthusiasts, students and the public the opportunity to witness the celestial show.

According to Supparco, the eclipse will begin at 8:30 pm and will reach its peak at 1:55 am, when the shadow of the earth will completely cover the moon. The event will last until the early hours of the morning.

The eclipse will also be visible in parts of Asia, Africa and Europe, but most of Pakistan’s regions are expected to enjoy a clear vision, provided that climatic conditions remain favorable.

Supparco explained that a lunar eclipse occurs when the earth passes between the sun and the moon, throwing its shadow on the lunar surface.

Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is sure to see with the naked eye, although telescopes and binoculars can improve visibility.

The commission urged the public to observe the event, ideally with astronomy clubs and educational groups that celebrate observation activities throughout the country.

Supparco will also share live images and updates through its official social media platforms.
