Pakistan urges a technological impulse in the maintenance of UN peace

As the ceasefires become more fragile and the most unpredictable conflicts, Pakistan has asked to use the variety of new technologies in rapid expansion to make their peace maintenance missions “more effective.”

“Advances in detection technologies can drastically improve the monitoring of high fire at lower costs,” said the ambassador to Iphtikhar Ahmad, permanent representative of the United Nations Pakistan, the UN Security Council.

Speaking in the informative session of an advice on the Heads of Military Components (HOMC) of the UN Peace Maintenance, he emphasized that advances in detection technology, including drones and satellite images, can significantly improve monitoring capabilities by providing “real -time situational awareness.”

Observing that the original function of the maintenance of peace, monitoring and observation of students high, has supported, the ambassador also said that the first two missions, the UN truce supervision organization (UNTSO) and the UN Group of Military Observers in India and Pakistan (UNMogip) settled with this purpose and continue to have relevance until this day.

“The monitoring of Alto El Fuego by the UN has played a vital role in the maintenance of peace at various points of inflammation, such as Jammu and Kashmir, the high golan, chipre, the Lebanon and the Western Sahara,” said the Pakistani envoy, stressing that the main maintenance of the UN peace was “custom and deeply shocking.”

The Security Council said, must ensure that the environment provided by the cessation of hostilities and compliance with the high fire will be strategically used to advance the general political objectives and the peace process, even through sustained diplomatic participation and support for the implementation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council to guarantee a fair and lasting settlement of those conflicts.

“This is true for all situations on the Board Agenda, including Jammu and Kashmir,” said Ambassador to the Council of 15 members.

The maintenance of peace, he said, remains one of the most effective instruments of the UN to help countries transition to the difficult path of conflict to peace. Pakistan is among the largest taxpayers of tø the peace maintenance missions deployed at access points worldwide.

Next week, Pakistan will organize a ministerial preparatory meeting of peace maintenance, in association with South Korea, in Islamabad.
