Pakistan has asked for “urgent and collective response” to the increase in hate discourse, misinformation and violent extremism, saying that such narratives fracture societies and endanger peace and stability.

“All this is to go to people of different religions, including Muslims, and also people based on race, gender and nationality,” said Ambassador Iphtikhar Ahmad, permanent representative of Pakistan at the UN, said a high -level event that marked the International Day of International Day.

He said that Monday’s meeting served as a reminder of “our shared responsibility to counteract intolerance, defend dignity and safeguard pluralism.”
