Pakistan and the United States have reaffirmed their intention to work together closely in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, to advance effective and durable counterators.

A joint press statement confirmed that the last round of the Pakistan-United States anti-terrorism dialogue took place on Tuesday, where both parties reiterated their shared commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The dialogue was co -chaired by Nabeel Munir, special secretary of the United Nations, and Gregory D Logerfo, interim coordinator of the Counteriorism in the United States Department of State.

The delegations of both countries stressed the importance of developing effective measures against terrorism, particularly in relation to groups such as the Baluchistan Liberation Army, ISIS-KHORASAN and TEHREEK-E-TALIBAN PAKISTAN (TTP).

The United States praised the continuous efforts of Pakistan to contain terrorist groups that threaten regional and global peace. He also extended condolences for the loss of civilians and agents of the law in recent terrorist attacks, including the bombing of Jaffar Express and the deadly attack of school bus in Khuzdar.

Both delegations emphasized the need to build stronger institutional frameworks and improve capacities to respond to emerging security challenges, particularly to the use of new technologies by terrorist groups.

By reaffirming the long -standing association between the two nations, both parties agreed that the sustained and structured commitment is crucial to counteract terrorism and encourage peace and stability in the region.

A day before, the United States appointed the Bla and its alias, the Majeed Brigade, as foreign terrorist organizations (FTO), the State Department issued a statement on its website.

The statement also said that the Majeed Brigade has also added as alias to the previous Global Terrorist (SDGT) list of Bla, which makes it a crime in the United States to provide support to the groups.

Bla was first designated as SDGT in 2019 after multiple terrorist attacks. Since then, the group has attributed the responsibility of more violent incidents, including the attacks carried out by the Majeed Brigade, the statement added.

The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, declared that today’s action underlines the commitment of the Trump administration to counteract terrorism. “Terrorist designations play a fundamental role in our fight against this scourge and are an effective way to reduce support for terrorist activities,” Rubio said.
