Pakistan welcomed President Donald Trump’s last offer to mediate in the Kashmir dispute.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, said that any agreement must align with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and guarantee the right of the people of Kashmir to the self -determination.

“We appreciate President Trump’s expression of support to peace efforts,” said the spokesman. “The Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains a central problem, with implications for regional and global security.”

The FO spokesman also recognized the constructive role played by the United States and other friendly countries to support the recently announced comprehension of high fire between Pakistan and India, which entered into force after a period of high military tensions.

He added that Pakistan remains committed to committing to the United States and the international community to promote peace, security and economic cooperation in the region.

“We hope to deepen our multifaceted association with the United States, particularly in sectors of commerce, investment and development,” he said.

The statement occurs hours after President Trump promised to support efforts towards a resolution of the Kashmir dispute and substantially increase trade with both nations.

In a message posted on its social networks, Truth Social, Trump described the “historical and heroic” agreement and said that both countries had shown “strength, wisdom and strength” by stopping what he described as growing aggression.

“I am very proud of the strong and unwavering leadership of India and Pakistan for having strength, wisdom and strength to know and completely understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have led to the death and destruction of so many, and so much,” Trump wrote.
