Pakistan will reaffirm the preparation to eradicate terrorism

Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminate terrorism and strengthen security cooperation along their borders.

The commitment was expressed during a telephone conversation between the head of the Army personnel, the field marshal also and the head of personnel of the General General of the Iranian Armed Forces Abdolrahim Mousavi, the Iranian embassy said in a statement.

According to the Iranian state news agency, the Iranian army head said that Tehran was prepared to work together with Islamabad to eradicate terrorism and ensure the common border.

He also expressed solidarity with the people affected by Pakistan’s floods, saying that they will “proudly provide assistance within their power to the beloved brothers in Pakistan.”

Iranian commander further praised Pakistan’s support for Tehran during the recent 12 -day conflict with Israel, noting that the two countries had been cooperating at multiple levels.

Earlier this month, Iranian President Masoud Peeshkian arrived in Pakistan for an official two -day visit for strengthening ties between neighboring countries.

The Iranian president, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including higher ministers and other high-ranking officials, held separate meetings with the main leadership of Pakistan and also went to the Pakistan-Iran business forum in Islamabad.

The two countries exchanged 12 agreements and mous to promote cooperation in various areas during the visit of President Pezeshkian.

These included agreements on plants and quarantine protection, Joint use of the border door of Mirjaveh-Taftan, collaboration in science and technology, ICT, culture and media exchanges, meteorology, maritime security, judicial assistance, air services, product certification and a tourism cooperation plan for 2025-27.

During a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and the Iranian counterpart, both parties agreed that peace and prosperity in their border regions depended on effectively fighting terrorism.

When addressing a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian said that both parties agreed to improve border security for the safety of the two countries.

Meanwhile, the prime minister said that both parties shared opinions that terrorism could not be tolerated at any cost. If someone in Iran was affected by terrorism, it was similar to a victim of terror in Pakistan, he observed. He also said, the two fraternal countries would take effective measures to eliminate terrorism.
