Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Sunday’s deep concern for increasing tensions in southern Asia, after Pahalgam incident in India, during a telephone conversation with his counterpart from Malaysia, Seri Anwar Ibrahim of Data.
Prime Minister Shehbaz firmly rejected the “without foundation” attempt of India to link Pakistan with the incident, emphasizing that no evidence had been shared to support the accusations. “Pakistan reiterates its offer for international, transparent, credible and neutral investigation,” he said, adding that Pakistan would welcome the participation of Malaysia in the investigation.
He stressed that Pakistan has constantly condemned terrorism in all forms and has played a fundamental role in global efforts against terrorism. “The provocative actions of India distract Pakistan from addressing the key security challenges along its western border,” he warned.
The prime minister said it was “unthinkable” that Pakistan participated in such an incident, particularly at a time when the country is recovering from an economic crisis and working towards stability.
Both leaders also discussed the strengthening of Pakistan-Malasia ties, reaffirming their commitment to deepen cooperation in trade, investment and cultural exchange. Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed hope of making an official visit to Malaysia at the end of this year.
The conversation said Pakistani officials, highlighted the lasting friendship and the close coordination between the two countries, and both leaders agreed to remain involved in regional and international matters.
