In a significant diplomatic development, Interior Ministers of Pakistan, Iran and Iraq met in Tehran for a historical trilateral conference aimed at improving facilitation for religious pilgrims who travel between the three countries.
The conference concluded with a unanimous agreement to take all possible measures to support pilgrims visiting sacred sites in Iran and Iraq.
A joint work group will be established to supervise coordination and operational issues, ensuring safe and problems without problems for millions of pilgrims, particularly during the main religious events such as Arbaeen.
When addressing the conference, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, expressed his gratitude to Iranian Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni, to organize the Summit at Pakistan’s request.
He emphasized the importance of pilgrims and highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to improve his experience.
NAQVI announced the main policy reforms, including a new regulation that effective on January 1, 2026, under which Pakistani pilgrims can no longer travel to Iraq individually.
On the other hand, they must be under the supervision of the organizers of registered groups, who will also be responsible for their return. Only those special visas by the Iraqi embassy will be exempt from this requirement.
“The new group -based travel system aims to stop illegal tickets and extended stays,” said Naqvi, adding that Iraq and Iran have completely supported the new frame.
He praised the governments of Iraq and Iran for their exemplary management of millions of pilgrims annually and reaffirmed the full cooperation of Pakistan in matters related to pilgrims.
The Security Tsar also extended congratulations to Iran for his recent military victory, praising the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and reiterating Pakistan’s solidarity during the conflict.
“Pakistan openly condemned the attack on Iran and completely supported his right to self -defense,” he said.
Attending the Conference Included Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, Senior Advisor Nader Yar Ahmadi, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Amiri Moghaddam, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Pakistan’s Interior Secretary Khurram agcha, and senior offices from Iraq’s Ministry of Interior.
