A Bahrain-bound passenger was arrested at Lahore International Airport after 40 capsules filled with heroin were found in his possession.
Meanwhile, around 64 capsules filled with methamphetamine (ice) were recovered from the stomach of a passenger heading to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from Lahore.
In other operations, the ANF seized drugs worth over Rs 220 million and arrested nine suspects.
In Balochistan, 1,208 kilograms of hashish were seized from two different areas of Pishin.
At the M1 intersection near Islamabad, 8.4 kilograms of hashish was found in the hidden compartments of a vehicle and the driver was arrested. In Karachi, 250 grams of heroin was recovered from a motorcyclist near Main Korangi Road.
In Sialkot, 3 kilograms of heroin, 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 1.2 kilograms of hashish were found in the bag of a suspect near Daska Chowk.
Near Sargodha Mor, Mianwali, 4.8 kilograms of hashish was recovered from two suspects, and at Kamonki Toll Plaza in Gujranwala, 2.5 kilograms of heroin was found in the secret compartments of a truck, leading to the arrest of the driver .
Also, 700 grams of hashish was recovered from a suspect at Burhan Toll Plaza near Attock. Cases have been filed against the detainees under the Anti-Narcotics Act and investigations are underway.
Earlier, ANF carried out six successful operations across the country, which led to the arrest of seven suspects and the recovery of over 101 kg of drugs valued at Rs 24.4 million, a spokesperson for the force announced on Saturday.
The operations included the seizure of 2kg of ice from a passenger’s wheeled suitcase at Islamabad International Airport as the individual was about to board a flight to Bahrain.
Additionally, 1,060 grams of heroin were found in the possession of a passenger at Karachi International Airport, who was en route to Jeddah.
In Balochistan, authorities recovered a substantial haul of drugs, including 25 kg of opium and 7 kg of heroin, in an uninhabited area of Hub district.
Last week, the ANF confiscated more than 10 kilograms of drugs from a British citizen of Pakistani origin.
According to ANF, during a routine operation at Peshawar airport, 10.6 kilograms of hashish was found hidden in the suspect’s suitcase. The drugs were carefully hidden in boxes.
The suspect was reportedly traveling from Peshawar to London via Doha.
