The New England Patriots held a moment of silence for the victims of two fatal shootings over the weekend before their game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The Patriots paid tribute to the lives lost in the Brown University shooting and the attack at a Hanukkah event in Sydney, Australia. Both incidents left several people dead, and authorities described the latter incident as a terrorist attack.

The Brown University logo and a map of Australia with a heart at the Sydney location appeared on the Gillette Stadium video board before kickoff.

“Before today’s game, the Patriots held a moment of silence to remember the victims of yesterday’s tragic shootings at Brown University in nearby Providence, as well as at Bondi Beach in Australia this morning,” a message during the CBS broadcast read, according to OutKick. “We join the entire NFL community in keeping them and their loved ones in our thoughts.”

Patriots team owner Robert Kraft is a leading supporter of Jewish causes, including the elimination of anti-Semitism. He spoke with OutKick and Pak Gazette Digital last month about the Blue Square Alliance message he wants the world to resonate with.

“It’s the most important thing for this country that I love, which, you know,” Kraft said at the time, “is the greatest country in the world, but we’re losing our way a little bit.”

Additionally, the Philadelphia Eagles issued a statement about the shootings as they began their game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

We carry the victims, their families and their loved ones in our hearts.”
