PDMA sounds alert alert for kp rains

The Provincial Disaster Authority (PDMA) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has issued a maximum alert after the prognosis of the intermittent rain meteorological department, electric storms and wind storms in the province from September 15 to 19, with strong downpours in some areas.

According to the Pdma Advisory, from Septernmber 16 to 19, Upper Districts including upper and lower dir, upper and loower chitral, swat, upper and low kohistan, kola-palas, shangla, battagram, manshra, abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajand, Bajand Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hagu, Karak and Waziristan Norte and South may experience heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

The PDMA warned that from September 18 to 19, heavy rains could cause an increase in water flows in streams and rivers of DIR, Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan. The authority also warned against possible landslides in sensitive mountainous areas of Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Khyber, Kohistan, Kola-Palas, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Torghar and North Wazirist.

The notice also stressed that strong winds and rays can damage vulnerable houses, electricity posts, billboards and solar panels. District administrations have been ordered to take precautionary measures, guarantee adequate drainage and keep local residents, travelers and tourists.

Special instructions were also issued for farmers, cattle owners and tourists. Farmers and shepherds have been advised to change crops and animals to safer places, while tourists have been urged to avoid risky points during the spell of bad weather.
