Until now, most spectators knew little about the Argus agent portrayed by Sol RodrÃguez. But, thanks to a couple of key scenes in the fifth entry of this season, entitled ‘Back to the Suture’, Bordeaux is not as enigma as it has been presented.
Complete spoilers follow immediately to Pacifier Episode 5 of season 2, entitled ‘Back to the Suture’.
The first important revelation about Bordeaux emerges during the confrontation between Chris Smith and the Argus agents trying to arrest it in Kupperberg Park. None of the assembly groups have a clear shot in its target because Smith has taken agent Clyne and covered them on his shoulders to use it as a protective shield.
Bordeaux intervention. Informing the Chief of Argus, Rick Flag, SR that Smith is locked in a turn pattern, essentially, Smith moves in a circle in the place to monitor the personnel approaching, says he has a clear injection and, if he takes it, it will be fatal.
In a movement that will surprise many spectators, it was revealed that Bordeaux is actually Android; Its robotic right eye and its 0.002% fault rate calculation are clear gifts.
Fortunately for Smith, Emilia Harcourt makes an intervention of the last second that prevents Burgundy matte to the titular antihero. Okay, he is subjected, arrested and taken to the Argus headquarters to, as we see later, be very beaten by Flag SR, but at least the metahuman known as a peacemaker is not really dead. Hey, you take the victories where you can.
Anyway, back in Argus, Harcourt meets John Economy and persuades him so that ‘Book Smith’ Smith, so that there is a record of arrest, which will prevent Flag SR from making Smith ‘disappear’, that is, that deactivated it.
It is during this conversation that we learn more about Bordeaux, with economy revealing that it is a cyborg. Continuing, Economos says that, after an almost fatal plane crash, Argus replaced half of his body, which had been destroyed in that disaster, with machinery and other technology to save his life.
Why the history of origin of Sasha Bordeaux should change in season 2 of Peacemaker
The history of origin of Bordeaux in the DC (DCU) universe is not totally different from its background history in comics. In fact, Bordeaux becomes a type of cyborg known as OMAC (Omni Mind and Community or, to use the original abbreviation, the construction of observational metahuman activity). The OMACS are human that have been converted into robots by a virus created by Maxwell Lord to kill metahumans.
However, the origins of Bordeaux had to be adjusted for season 2 of the pacifiers, and, by power, the DCU, for a great reason: Batman.
In the comics, Bordeaux is initially introduced as an agent of the secret service converted into a private contractor who is hired as head of the Bryce Wayne security team. Without entering the essence of his entire arc to date, Bordeaux * Deep Breath * Learn Wayne is Batman, he begins to patrol the city of Gotham next to him, he falls in love with the Caped layer, he is co-enfroneated by the murder of Wayne’s ex-girlfriend, he almost dies in the prison, joins the government agency as a verification check through that group.
Taking into account that the dark gentleman has not yet been introduced completely in the DCU, however, we know that he is already active due to his cameo Creatures commands Episode 6 – A lot of heavy work would have been required in PacifierIt is part of explaining the comic background history of Bordeaux. In that sense, simplifying its origins in the DCU was the best option available for James Gunn and Company.
This does not mean that Bordeaux cannot cross the roads with the dark gentleman in another project of chapter one of DCU. We already know that a Batman movie, currently entitled The brave and the boldIt is in early development in DC Studios. Speaking to Techradar before the Pacifier’s return, RodrÃguez admitted that he would love to appear in The brave and the boldBut I had no idea if Gunn would include her as part of her cast.
Of course, to meet Batman, Bordeaux needs to survive the last three episodes of one of the best HBO Max shows, the second season. Given Gunn’s inclination for killing the characters Willy-Nilly, there is also no guarantee that she reaches the end.
Anyway, what do you think about this reformulation of the origin story of Bordeaux? Works? Are you upset because it does not follow its literary background history literary announcement? Answer me in the comments.
